Daniel Merenstein was admitted to the National Academy of Medicine in 2024. Fewer than 100 academics are admitted to the academy each year, with new members selected by their peers in recognition of outstanding professional achievement and commitment to service. Merenstein is a Professor with tenure of family medicine at Georgetown University, where he also directs family medicine research. He has a secondary appointment in the undergraduate Department of Human Science, in the School of Health. He is a clinical trialist who has recruited over 2,500 participants for 12 different trials since 2006 and published over 175 articles. He is an expert on probiotics, antibiotic stewardship in outpatient settings and also conducts HIV research in a large women’s cohort.
