Professor Brian Rosen

Professor Brian Rosen was recently appointed to be Chief Scientist of the Israeli Ministry of Energy and Infrastructures.

Rosen is a leading researcher in the fields of energy, advanced materials and scientific innovation. He serves as a full professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Tel Aviv University, and served as vice dean for International Affairs in the Faculty of Engineering. During his career, Rosen has connected academia, industry and public policy, and developed groundbreaking solutions in the fields of synthetic fuels, fuel cells, green and turquoise hydrogen, and low-emission ammonia production.

Professor Rosen has extensive experience in promoting international collaborations and technological entrepreneurship: he founded three energy startups, two of which were acquired, and he holds more than 20 registered patents. He has won prestigious awards for his innovative research, including the KKL-JNF Prize for Climate Solutions (2023), and is included in the list of the 2% most cited scientists in the world according to Stanford University for the years 2023 and 2024. He was elected in 2025 as a senior fellow of the American National Academy of Inventors, in recognition of his contribution to innovation and the commercialization of breakthrough technologies.
