Dr. Peter Zilberg became a Senior Lecturer in the Zalman Shamir Department of Hebrew Bible at Bar-Ilan University. Zilberg was formerly a Fulbright postdoctoral scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, and a fellow at the Martin Buber Society of Fellows at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Zilberg is an epigrapher of ancient texts from the Ancient Near East concentrating on Assyriology and Iranian studies. His work focuses on the social history of exiled and displaced groups in the ANE, especially during the Achaemenid period. Peter is also interested in the study of the rural hinterland of empires, and the relationship between center and periphery in antiquity.
