Dr. Nermin Toukhy was selected as the 2025 winner of the James Kirk Bernard Award for the Biological Studies of Suicide from the International Academy of Suicide Research (IASR). Dr.Toukhy is a postdoctoral associate and Fulbright postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She is also a licensed medical psychologist. Under the mentorship of Dr. David Brent and Dr. Nadine Melhem, her research focuses on the biological mechanisms underlying suicide risk and the development of digital health interventions aimed at preventing suicide among youth.
