In November 2025, Dr. David Weinreich began the position of Assistant Professor in Land Use Governance, Planning Law and Property Rights, at Aalborg University, Faculty of IT and Design, in Denmark. Dr. Weinreich earned his doctorate in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Michigan. His research focuses on the role of governance and financial structures in affecting policy decisions over where transit should go, and how separate transit authorities can better coordinate services. His work has identified both how service fragmentation exists and how it can be overcome, drawing from examples in both Europe, the U.S. and Israel. In his new role, Dr. Weinreich will examine reasons for fragmentation between transportation and land use policy.
