Dr. Hananel Shapira began his two-year Dan David Society of Fellows appointment at Tel Aviv University, where he examines royal oversight of temple construction and rituals in the Bible vis-à-vis its ancient Near Eastern context. The scholarship supports international and Israeli scholars to conduct innovative research at the university. Dr. Shapira is a Hebrew Bible scholar with a particular focus on priestly literature, ritual theory, and the political-theological imagination of ancient Israel. Before this he was a Fulbright postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University.
