Professor Jeffrey Halpern

Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellowship, 2012, Chemical Engineering, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology

Professor Jeffrey Halpern, who served as UNH Faculty Senate Chair in 2024-2025, was promoted to the rank of professor in August 2024, and received the 2024 UNH Office of Community, Equity, and Diversity Faculty Advocacy and Action Award in September 2024. Halpern had one patent awarded: J.M. Halpern and E.R.M. Balog. β€œ2-Dimensional Surfaces Capable of Monitoring Stimuli Responsive Behavior and Methods of Use Thereof.” Patent No. US 12,153,044 B2 (Nov 26, 2024) University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH; and also submitted one patent: J.M. Halpern, R. Brown, Z. Albeshir, S. Bramlitt-Harris. β€œIn-Situ Surface Impedance Evaluation (ISSIE) Methods and Systems for Electrochemically Identifying Surface and Changes to a Substrate.” US. Appl. No. 63/853,251 (July 29, 2025) University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH.

Professor Halpern achieved his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in 2010. He served as a Fulbright Postdoctoral Scholar and Lady Davis Fellow under the mentorship of Professor Hossam Haick in 2013-2014. Currently, he is a professor of chemical engineering and bioengineering where he does research in electrochemistry and chemical sensors with a specific focus in Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy.
